What may be the features of a victim of forced prostitution?

The following attributes can help you identify victims of forced prostitution and/ or exploitation:

• Intimidation and disorientation
• Exhaustion and fatigue
• Signs of maltreatment
• Signs that show that the person is minor
• Limited ability to speak the language (German / English)
• General helplessness
• Price is negotiated and money is taken by a third party
• Escorted by a third party
• Passive and apathetic behaviour
• Obvious sexual inexperience
• Fulfilment of all wishes without negotiation
• Locked rooms
• Surveillance
• Presence of shills or assistants
• Debts to accomplices
• Delivery of the earnings to a third party
• Unawareness of the laws and duties of being self employed
• Limited knowledge of health issues
• Remarks about illegal residency or pseudo-marriage
